Petition to make St. Patrick's day an official US holiday. For all the wrong reasons. XD

P.S. No, I didn't sign it. I'm not a drinker, ergo, I have no reason to.

My boyfriend surprised me this past weekend with tickets to Wicked, which I had wanted to see for AGES. Made me so happy, and the musical was awesome. My one regret is that I didn't get to see it with Idina Menzel because she is an amazing singer and... I adored her from the Rent movie ; D; Luckily Youtube came to the rescue as it always does!! If you haven't seen the musical and you want to watch it, don't watch the link because it's one of the most powerful numbers in the song. I got shivers up and down my spine and watching the performance on video will never be as good as watching the musical live.

Idinal Menzel and Kristin Chenoweth - Defying Gravity (at the Tony's, so this is very close to the song on the soundtrack)

I came across some really interesting japanese toy design sketches done in watercolor from the late 19th to early 20th century. Definitely good stuff.

Read this article and thought of crap's comments with regards to Guitar Hero.

Quoting crap:

But I just find it fascinating that some people would rather spend time "practicing" Guitar Hero rather then real guitar.

I honestly find it scary to be honest, I mean things like this among a crapload of other developments that have society going on an ever increasing slant toward digitizing literally every facet of life, sort of in the line of Baudrillard's notions of simulacrum where the concept of reality is beginning to be broken down and redefined; i.e. "a simulacrum is not a copy of the real, but becomes truth in its own right".

Whether its true or not, this same mate in question told me of his friend who was selling his guitar cause he was now going to just play guitar hero. I mean seriously wtf, I guess you could say for this guy playing the game is reality, but even if you suck donkey balls at playing I dont think a mere game can replace the satisfaction of knowing that you are actually making music yourself.

The thing that tickles me about this, as well as Crap's comment, is that my friend Ryan plays guitar, and has for a long while. When we got the first Guitar Hero, he played it with the rest of us, and one day after playing, told us how much easier it was for him to play his guitar. He said Guitar Hero made him rethink his hand positioning on his own guitar, XD.

I work at a nationally distributed magazine. We've DEFINITELY felt it. I've lost many close coworkers in the last month or so.

Not yet so far, apart from feeling the usual pains from the news... *knocks on wood* probably have a big dip in 401K which I've resisted checking >_>
