I saw this (or I think I saw this) small Wacom tablet at an Apple store and was really surprised by the $70 price tag. I remember Wacoms used to be $100. Now I guess the medium ones are around $100? $70 isn't too bad... I'm rather tempted. Good deal? Worth it, yay or nay? Are there better models out there? All and any advice welcome xD

I'd say yes, if you plan to do a lot of painting and drawing, i'm using graphire 3 and it's all love once i changed the sensitivity :'D

I'd recommend the intuos 3 line if you can spare the cash, they are just superb. If not, the graphires are another good choice.

I think for what you're wanting it for, you'd be better off with at least a Graphire. I agree with Na, I'd get the  Intuos if you have a little extra to spare. The Bamboos are more for the casual user, not that you couldn't use it for what you wanted. I used an ancient Wacom Artpad II for the longest time (it was so old it used a serial port and had a power cord XD) and it was fine.  The Graphire will just be better with the number of sensitivity levels. They're not much more than the Bamboo either. The one I have is a Graphire 3 and it was around 100$ - 110$ at Best Buy.

And don't think bigger is better. I use the smallest size and I do fine. Unless you're planning on going hardcore. But knowing your laziness, you're not. :P

Thanks for the feedback guys. Yeah, Graphire looks acceptable... $95 on Amazon.

Not to say I can't afford Intuos, although I'm going to be shelling out for holiday plane tickets soon... but that would be one heck of an expensive toy at $199 >.> I don't think I'm so interested in tablets to want to shell out that amount of $$ just yet.

Is there really that big of a difference between Bamboo and the Graphire? o.o

Well technically they're the "replacement" for the graphire line. I've heard mixed opinions both ways, but the bamboo has a more textured drawing surface and is more so suggested for writing and signing (but of course it's not limited to that). The specs are actually pretty similar but apparently, the bamboo pen leaves something to be desired. I think really what it comes down to is that graphire line has been a tried and proven one and the bamboo FUN is still the new kid on the block. It's really just up to you, it's not like it's going to be the difference between fire and ice.
