Seriously though my desktop is almost always covered by some windows so I don't like having icons there.

o.o any idea on what might've happened alterlier? My laptop sucks and I remember going through quite a few WB skins before I weeded out a couple that worked fully.

No desktop customization for me anymore. I need as much memory as possible (in fact I configured WinXP so that, if no program is running, only 270 MB of RAM memory is used) for the things I do, whether it's working with a lot of programs opened at the same time, or whether it's pushing Photoshop and Illustrator to the limits.
