I just saw the preview for it and I didn't recognize Heath Ledger at first. I think he looks like he makes the movie. I'm normally not too big on the Batman movies (well, just the last few really) but this one looks like it has potential to me.
yeah heath ledger seems like hes going to be a kickass joker, I know some people had doubts about him playing joker but I always thought he would do a great job and from what I saw in the trailer he looks like hes going to be amazing
Oh yeah, definitely. I loved Batman Begins... Christian Bale's hot! Also just checked out the trailer which looks pretty kickass. I totally wouldn't have picked out Heath Ledger as Joker either if you guys hadn't mentioned it.
i still think it would have been cool if they got mark hamill to be joker but sadly that turned out to be a crazy rumor. Definitely like what Ive seen though of this.
An interesting bit of trivia.....the guy who plays Harvey Dent/Two Face in this movie is an alumni of my high school....

yeah I actually remember you telling me this i dunno i just cant see luke as joker i know he does the voice for the animated series, I dunno I think ledger is a great pick I always thought someone like him could play joker at one time I thought jude law could play him if you think im insane see road to perdition
aside from Star Wars, Hamill seriously has only played batshit crazy roles. i.e. Justin from the early 90s slasher, "Midnight Ride". I remember seeing it as a kid and being quite disturbed. a quick youtube search actually yielded the whole movie upped in segments....wow, this is so cheesy now
I wouldn't agree on Jude Law though. His character in Road to Perdition is nothing like the Joker imo except the fact that they were both major antagonists. I mean yea hes sort of a psycho in the film but hes really reserved and quite silent while the joker is flamboyant and over-the-top.

I didnt mean that chatacter as in having alot of things in comon as the joker but it shows he can act like a psychopath and not just look like a pretty boy
The Joker's character is based on his first two appearances in the comic books, as well as his portrayal in the graphic novel "The Killing Joke." To prepare for the role, Heath Ledger lived alone in a hotel room for a month researching the character and developing his performance, which he claims is based upon Sid Vicious and the character of Alex in A Clockwork Orange (1971). Ledger found the role extremely difficult, and suffered insomnia as a result.
yea but simply saying he played psychopath character A, doesn't necessarily mean he would be good at playing B. Im not saying he would be unfit for the role potentially, simply that making a connection from his performance in Road to Perdition is somewhat of an essentialization or simplification. i.e Christian Bale played a character that was not sane as well in American Psycho, but I doubt anyone would say he would make a good joker. The roles although sharing in a category are really nothing alike.
And although I like the look they did for Ledger as the Joker, I cant really say hes going to deliver a stunning performance. If anybody is the pretty boy actor here, its him. The only slightly credible role he ever got was for Brokeback which was nothing great in itself.

Wow I got behind on this thread...I agree that Ledger definitely has his looks going against him for the role, but I think he looks like he has potential from the preview I saw. If anything, this will give him a chance to stretch himself a little more, so to speak. I'm not a huge fan of the Batman saga, but he makes me interested enough to want to see this one.
And that link completely reminds me why I disliked the original Batman! Maybe it's my age or something, but I could never get into it XD
