Before a week ago, I had never ever seen or knew anything about the Dr. Who universe. I knew of it and of its large cultural significance but aside from that simple fact, nothing else. Out of a whim and because I got ahold of the first season of Torchwood, I thought I'd give it a go. I can't say I was taken immediately at first, but its definitely something that grew on me. I've already caught up completely on the show, and now its peaked my interest in its parent show of Dr. Who. Just about finished up Series 1 (2005) and now I think Im seriously addicted.
Theres definitely large flaws to both, but I really find myself enjoying it on the whole and love the whole setup. With 700+ episodes though, I debating whether or not I should go back and watch the rest of it, or just use the 05 relaunch as a starting point.
And a random sidenote but is it jsut me or does British TV seriously completely dominate the crap that gets broadcasted here? i.e. they've got this, Top Gear, Spaced, Never Mind The Buzzcocks, etc.... while we get cruddy reality and game shows where we hook up people to lie detectors and take enjoyment in ruined lives....
