Canon EOS 450D

The reason why I asked what that camera is because I'm actually considering buying a new one. Would you recommend it?  And my vacation photos are mostly of me and my family usually, but I'll try to take some of the scenery. :D

Yes, I would highly recommend it if you're thinking about getting an affordable digital SLR. It has the biggest LCD within the lower-end SLRs (3"), is extremely light (great for lugging it around with you), and comes with an image-stabilizer kit lens thats actually pretty decent. The Sony a350 is pretty much the biggest rival for this camera in it's price range, which is 2MP higher in sensor, but the color and sharpness of its photos can't compare with the 450D.

It also has a live-view mode which is pretty neat (the a350 has a faster live-view mode but only gives you about 90% coverage because it doesn't use the main sensor). In any case, I would assume if you're trying to get an SLR, live-view mode wouldn't be that important to you.
